ECO CLUB ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL (CLASS III TO V)

Earth Day 2020

“He who plants trees loves others besides himself.”

Thomas Fuller

On the special occasion of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on 22nd of April 2020, learning continues even though the schools are closed due to unprecedented crisis round the world. Despite the widespread social distancing, DPS Sushant Lok celebrated Earth Day in a unique way by planning interesting activities that engaged our students, at home.

As a part of Jumpstart Morning module, to achieve an environment of creative and collaborative learning, students of Classes III to V made Earth Day Badges. They used recyclable material available at home and added a caption to their badges. Students celebrated this special day by doing an array of activities like; ‘draw and colour a portrait of a tree’, ‘write a story about a tree’, ‘compose a poem on their favourite tree’, bird feeder making activity etc. Students sent their photographs with the entries they worked on to their class teachers.

Impact and Learning Outcome- The children were made aware that every day we should do our bit to protect our planet as each day may be observed as Earth Day and remember that planting more and more trees will eventually save our Mother Earth.
