Everyone is a student as every moment of life teaches one something indispensable. From the beginning to the end, “learning never stops”. In fact, it is not necessary for a younger person to always be at the receiving end. The most compelling lessons of life can be obtained from the most unexpected sources.

Nature has presented man innumerable opportunities to learn. For instance, a chance observation at an ant attempting to overcome the various hurdles laid on its way back home inspires one to embody persistence. Even something as small as an ant harbours the ability to give monumental lessons of tenacity and perseverance. Similarly, while spinning its web, a spider teaches one to work meticulously to achieve one’s goals. A fruit bearing tree bends down and enlightens the world with the virtue of humility. It guides one to stay modest even after achieving overweighing success. Students equip teachers with never ending patience. The covid- 19 pandemic is another example of an unexpected phenomenon that taught us about virtual learning being a powerful and effective tool. It adorned us with unbeatable emotional and mental endurance because what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger indeed. The Pandava prince Sahadeva swallowed ants carrying pieces of his father’s flesh and was imbibed knowledge of everything of the past and even of future events.

It is well known that the genius scientist, Einstein was a failure at school and was at the brink of a nervous breakdown due to his poor performance. He was a victim to the conformation, compliance and submission demanded by the school authorities. Instead of respecting the needs and limitations of students, schools in Munich in those days had shut themselves down to receive any ideas which ultimately led to Einstein dropping out. This is one of the most famous examples that shows how institutionalized environments are not enough to support learning. What we really need is a more liberal setup that promotes insightful learning.

The power of learning leaves no one untouched by its magic. Thus, learning cannot be limited to a classroom or to the pages of a book. Learning is all around us, we need to open our hearts to it.
