"We Create Compassionate Citizens"

Education is not merely limited to the garnering of knowledge but reaches out to encompass values that contribute in creating citizens who become instrumental in bringing about social change. Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s words-“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”, and believing firmly in the DPS motto of ‘Service before Self” ,DPS Sushant Lok, strives to provide to its learners a holistic education, the quintessence of which is the perfect amalgamation of an intrinsic reverence for life and a passionate love of learning. This is embodied in ‘Empassion’, the social service club for students, a club that provides its members the opportunity to implement the values that are taught within the confines of the classroom.

In a society with disintegrating family bonds, the senior citizens are often lost sight of. The club has spearheaded visits to old age homes ‘Godhuli’ and ‘Gharaunda’ during which students have done their bit in adding colour to the lives of the residents .Believing that education is a basic right of all citizens, the members have lent a helping hand to the teachers of ‘Pragati’ and ‘Gaurav Niketan’, schools for underprivileged children, by donning their mantles. Foreseeing the fast approaching biting cold season, the students of DPSSL in collaboration with Hindustan Times and Godrej Ezee, joined hands to collect warm clothes and blankets for the needy. They also collected food grains for the ‘Gurugram Food Bank’.The school has taken under its wing a neighbourhood government school, Government Primary School, B-2, SushantLok, Gurugram, aiming at upgrading the infrastructure as well as academic quality of the school. As a part of the first phase of the project the students worked on upgrading the infrastructure. A group of students of classes VIII and IX along with their mentor teachers from the Art Department went to the school and beautified the walls with paintings. The physical well being of the students has not been lost sight of too. The students of DPSSL have been involved in the project Hum Vs Dengue in which they collected Rs. 85000 which has been utilized in providing medical insurance to children from the lesser privileged section of the society who might be suffering from dengue in the near future. This initiative supplemented the efforts of the District Administration, Gurugram in its fight against dengue.
