Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed” – Mahatma Gandhi.

A special assembly was conducted in the auditorium of DPSSL by the students of Classes VI – VIII, to mark The International Day for Biological Diversity on 16th May, 2018.

The International Day for Biological Diversity (or World Biodiversity Day) is a United Nations’ sanctioned international day celebrated on May 22nd , to mark the day that the convention was adopted at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992.

To help the audience understand that biodiversity is essential for sustainable development and human well-being, the students took the audience through an engaging PowerPoint presentation that was followed by a brief round of quiz.

A short Hindi skit on ‘Environment and Our Role to Protect It’ was staged by the students. A soul stirring dance performance reminded one and all about their responsibilities towards the environment, the need of the hour.

The programme ended with the enlightening words of the Principal, Ms Sunita Nagpal, who stressed on the fact that it is very necessary to understand the importance of a healthy environment and maintain it forever. In order to continue life on this planet; it’s high time we changed our thinking into action!
