Some Fun Facts About the Science of Robotics for Our Young Budding Geniuses

Robotics is an interdisciplinary field of mechanical and electrical engineering that deals with the construction, design, application, and operation of robots. This happens to be the branch of technology that is registering the most rapid and relentless form of growth in recent years. The self-sufficient machines we know as robots are gradually making their strides in areas as diverse as automation, services, production, and residential uses, and we are more likely to witness some significant advancements in the science of robotics in the near future.

Robotics indeed sounds fascinating. After all, it lays the way to getting our hands on some highly advanced robots like Tony Stark’s Jarvis and Bumble Bee from Transformers in the future! That’s surely exciting! But do you know robotic scientists have already built some miraculous robots who are doing their respective jobs very well? So today, in this article, we, at DPS Sushant Lok, one of the top schools in Gurgaon, have brought for you some facts about the science of robotics, which we believe are as fun to know as crucial for expanding your knowledge bank.

Vacuum robots are the most common domestic robots

Ever thought we will have robots mopping our floors for us! But see, that’s already happening. In fact, vacuum-cleaning robots are way more successful and popular than all other kinds of domestic robots. Nearly millions of these circular vacuum cleaning robots have already been sold around the globe. The best part about these robots is that they can reach out to every corner of your home without needing any human assistance at all. Over and above this, these vacuum robots are capable of recharging themselves as well.

Robots changing the way our warfare looks

We just talked about how vacuum robots have brought in convenience and comfort for humans. But do you know that the advancements in robotics also hold the potential to change the face of war machines? In fact, many advanced unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, like Drones, and UGVs, are already in use in the defense systems of the countries.

And this is not even new. In fact, U.S Marines already developed a robot called LS3 back in 2014, which could carry around 400 pounds of weight. Besides, Boston Dynamics has also developed a series of robots that can help soldiers carry the load. BigDog is one of their most advanced robots so far, and it is capable of walking and carrying loads in any terrain with great stability and maneuverability.

Humanoid robots have also arrived!

There is no denying that humanoid robots are not only the most interesting ones but are also the ones that are the most waited for. And today, with the constant efforts of robotic engineers and scientists, we finally have something that we can call a truly humanoid robot. Honda has recently developed a highly advanced version of a humanized robot named ASIMO. It comes with an excellent balancing system like humans and has an AI program installed to interact with humans. Who knows, if you prepare well in this field from a young age, maybe you would hold the key to the next phase of evolution of humanoid robots!

At DPS Sushant Lok, ranked among the top schools in Gurgaon, we have always encouraged our young buds to develop an interest in the field of robotics through our dedicated Robotics Club and our regular workshops headed by the experts in the field. At the end of the day, we firmly believe in the idea of “catch them young” when it comes to training them in such crucial skillsets as robotics, and all our efforts in this regard are aimed at making our students more intrigued about and adept in robotics, which is definitely the future!
