RENDEZVOUS 2018-The English Language Day

 

To develop students’ love for the English language, the Primary Wing (III – V) celebrated ‘Rendezvous 2018’ English language Day in the school premises on 2nd August 2018. Students enthusiastically participated in a plethora of fun filled events, spread over the day. Choral Recitation based on funny poems, mostly Roald Dahl was a whole class group activity for the students of class III. Ad Mad and Weave a Story were Inter-section events where the best teams of each section showcased their talent. The imagination and creativity of Class IV students was at its best as they weaved wonderful stories. Intra Section Advertisement Making Activity ‘Ad Mad’ was a platform where students of Class V showcased their individual and collective talent, innovative thinking, original ideas and creativity. The quiz- Spell Well conducted with the aid of visual slides was a big hit with the students of class III. The Inter House English Debate ‘War of Words’ was the competition organized for the students of class V. The debaters from various houses exhibited their argumentative and persuasive skills as they argued their case on the topic ‘Electronic Gadgets Have Locked the Door to Outdoor Activities’. The winners were awarded with certificates. Speak to Lead, a confidence booster for the students of class IV, was an Inter House Competition where the students of each House expressed their thoughts and opinions on the topics, Go Green Before There is No Green Left and Safer the Environment Healthier the Life. The competitions provided a platform for developing confidence and team spirit amongst the students.

All the activities were successfully carried out. The overall experience was very satisfying, enhancing students’ skills in the learning of English language. The Principal, Ms Sunita Nagpal and the Headmistress, Ms Leena Singhal appreciated the efforts of the English Department & congratulated the students.     

 

INTRA CLASS ACTIVITIES

POETRY IN VOICE

 

‘Poetry in Voice’ an  ‘Inter Section Choral Recitation Activity’ was organised for Class III, wherein all students from various sections of class III participated. They gave an in-depth depiction of their poems through voice modulations, gestures and captivating expressions. What was truly fascinating, was the wide variety of funny poems like- ‘Sick’, ‘The Tummy Beast’, ‘Good Morning Dear Students’,’English Oddities’ etc.

Overall, the Choral Recitation Activity  was an enjoyable event and at the same time one which gave us an insight into the talent and potential that these little children possess.

 

 

AD MAD ACTIVITY

To acquaint the students of Class V with yet another ‘learn by fun’ activity, an Advertisement Making Activity ‘Ad Mad’ was organised. The enthusiastic teams picked a topic of their choice and presented their humorous advertisements in English language. It was a platform where students showcased their individual and collective talent, innovative thinking, original ideas and creativity. They came up with some wonderful ads and in the process the teachers discovered some budding actors. The teams were given participation certificates.

QUIZ BUZZ ACTIVITY

The students of Class IV participated enthusiastically in the Intra Section ActivityQuiz Buzz’. The quiz was based on their Summer Reading of English story book.

WEAVE A STORY

Students of class IV participated in an Inter-Section Activity, ‘Weave a Story’.The students were provided with characters, setting and a problem. They were divided into groups and had to weave a story. The students participated enthusiastically and presented interesting stories. The teams were given participation certificates.

INTER HOUSE SPELL WELL COMPETITION

Students of Class III participated in an Inter House ‘Spell Well’ Competition. Participants from each of the six houses, put their spelling skills to test by going through various rounds of the quiz ranging from direct ‘Spell Check’ to guessing the word first, through clues or pictures, and then spelling it out.

Satluj House emerged the winner with Yamuna House a close second and the third Position being shared by Chenab and Jhelum Houses.

The Principal, Ms Sunita Nagpal, expressed her amazement and pleasure at the ease and confidence with which the students tackled each spelling. The audience too enthusiastically participated in the audience rounds.

INTER HOUSE DEBATE – WAR OF WORDS

An  Inter House Debate Competition, ‘War of Words’ was conducted  for class V. The topic for the debate was ‘Have electronic gadgets locked the door to outdoor activities’. The  judges appreciated the efforts of the students.

Ms Veena Sangar, Vice Principal complimented the genuine efforts of the children and students.
